Today’s announcement of the expansion of the Blue Cart program city-wide by 2011 is a significant measure to not only maximize recycling opportunities, but also aligns with the City’s commitment toward sustainability. The initial results of the Blue Cart program show it to be a great success to enable residents of Chicago to conveniently recycle valuable commodities more effectively. We look forward to the program being made available to all households served by the City as soon as possible and also commend the City for the expansion of the number of drop off centers during the transition period. Once fully implemented, the residents of Chicago and the City itself, will have a significant positive impact on the quantity of commodities recovered throughout the State and the host of environmental and economic benefits that recycling can bring for generations to come.
